Hello,I'm not dead

Here's an update.You're welcome Munster.=D

Recently,I have noticed something which has been bothering me a lot.It concerns the noble art of speaking.Speaking is the most common way humans use to communicate in this modern age, because we don't live in trees anymore and pluck flies out of each other's hair. Thanks to the wonderful inventiveness of the person who created language,we no longer need to speak to one another by making weird noises, pointing obscenely, and grunting. However the art of speaking has been anally violated in some of the most despicable ways ever in history.

Have you ever noticed that some people, when they run out of words or want to sound in control, tend to resort to certain words which inadvertently (or perhaps not so inadvertent) make them sound cool and like they have an extended vocabulary, but instead make them look as if they couldn't come up with anything to fill the gap or make themselves look more intelligent? No?I am talking about people who use words such as "actually" and "basically",just to name a few.

These people usually use these words when they try to typically explain something. They start off with something like "Basically, this thing works this way...".However,they don't realize the actual meaning of what they are saying. The word basically is used to explain something in very basic terms, which is to say,to cut the long story short and summarize everything. But no,people go on and on saying "Basically,-" followed by a long detailed explanation of whatever the hell they are saying but they are everything but brief and basic. It's amazing how contradictory humans can become.

Next is "actually".The word actually is used to describe something in well...actual terms. It is typically used to correct a misunderstanding by the other party and is used to clarify confusion/lack of comprehension.Again, people commonly misuse the word to explain something which was never explained beforehand.People who speak like "Actually, this project was done etc..." should be shot because yes,you dumbass, we do know that what you're saying is actually actual, because otherwise you'd probably be lying or giving false information, and since that's probably not the case, there's no need to state the bloody obvious.

And lastly, there is also the word "technically".Just to be clear, the word technically is again,to explain something technical-wise (I am Captain bloody Obvious,so what, some people don't get it) but people do use it to explain anything-but-technical stuff.Holy God.When someone goes "technically, this is not supposed to be like this..." usually what they are saying is not technical. What they actually want to use is "actually",or "basically".Because of further lack of gray matter, they can't even choose the wrong word they wanna use.

Unsurprisingly,it is the teenage and young adult age group people who are guilty of such explicit offences, not to mention speaking with the word "like" practically before every adjective or verb and inventing new slangs.Whatever happened to speaking normally?Society's norms have forced everyone to conform lest they are left out from the "in" group, the popular and trendy fashion-following and sex-indulging mainstream generation. This leads us to further pollution of language, which is the fake accent.

Fake accent people are either (a) too cool (b) not cool (c) clueless as to where they live and how the natives speak or (d) emotionally, mentally and socially unstable. They can't even open their mouth for fear of people thinking they come from some place such as Sri Lanka or some village/third-world country where in their minds those places represent all that evolution rejects,i.e. they are backward in some way.

So their emotions turn upside down and they start thinking "Oh shit,I better speak like I was educated in London and grew up on the streets of New York or else people find out that I am actually Malaysian and Malaysian people speak English like fish mongers, which is sooooo embarrassing in front of all my hip and fashionable friends, who also happened to be educated overseas and therefore they sound soooo cool speaking like a bastard who spend hours watching CSI just to perfect their accent...!!! Holy shit I need to speak like I am cool!!! Malaysians are not cool! They don't speak cool..!!

Unfortunately, you also sound like a bad poser who can't copy a damn accent to save your life,so why don't you save your efforts and settle for sounding not cool, which is what you really are,and learn to love your image in the mirror and stop trying to hard not to be yourself? The bottom line is,we don't need to sound cool to survive in life.We just need to be genuine, not artificial.Be original, and people will buy original.

Well hope that's kept you guys entertained.By the way...I found recent evidence my uncle was a hippie. At least a hippie follower...cause he dressed like one. It's ironic that a generation later his nephew is a hippie-basher i.e. metalhead.

United the Double Champions 2007/2008

The night I stayed up to watch this final it was genuinely nail-biting tension for me.Now I know how it feels like to be taken to uncertainty right until the final kick of the game. What a game! But what a fitting end for the season.

All year long United were the most consistent team in all of Europe.I rewatched the trophy presentation and again felt the euphoria of the victory. It is really really fantastic.Just watching them do the lap of honour, the victory parade...it's an indescribable feeling. It's the first European Cup I have watched United win.

But credit to Chelsea,on another day and in another season, they might well have ended up champions after losing Jose Mourinho early in the season and staying on to fight till the end.Seeing John Terry cry and not even acknowledging his runners-up medal,it is sad but that's life and there's only one winner.

Back to United,it is obvious that this is a team littered with winners all over the field. How oldies like Giggs,Scholes,Neville and Van der Sar,all veterans with families and quiet lifestyles can play on the same pitch with such an understanding with much younger (and of a different generation) is really amazing.I just realized this after seeing the different ways United players lifted the trophy. The overdue wait for Scholes, the evergreen enthusiasm of Giggs even though he has won so many medals, and Van der Sar,whose last European Cup win came 12 years ago and who has enjoyed tremendous success in his early career only to play at lower levels thereafter.I really believe fate played a huge part in this.

Add this to young hungry players like Anderson,Nani,Rooney and Ronaldo and the formula of success is there for all to see.The sheer joy coming from them enjoying success at such a young age, only to grow and succeed the older generation...the potential of a brighter future is there. And the best is yet to come because these players can be even better in the future. This is what Manchester United is really about.

The Battle

Shield and sword in hand,I bravely led the line.I thought I could outfight my instincts,my emotions.I thought I could, and I thought I would.I never thought more wrong.

My army surged forward. They have failed me before, but after rigorous training and conditioning,I was ever so confident in their abilites,in their strength. They have never been stronger,I thought. And so we charged on.

The battle was fought on all fronts.Physically,psychologically,emotionally.War cries were issued, muscles flexed.Still I stood strong.I could feel and taste the victory. It was a demanding effort, but I was winning.I stood motionless and basked for a moment in the sweetness of victory.I allowed myself to feel smug, and arrogant. To enjoy the moment while it lasted. But the enemy was overwhelming in its uncanny ability to find the chinks in my armor, the wounds in my body. Those that I never knew I still had.Slowly,my strength diminished.I was losing.

I refused to accept defeat. How could I lose,I thought, how could I?It is impossible.I had never been so dominant before, never been in more control.Never been so strong in my resolve, never so immovable. But as always,God's will brought me down when He wanted me to fall. The outcome was inevitable.

Only when I am lying on the floor with the grime and dirt do I see things from a humbler point of view and not get my head stuck in the clouds.God is good and always will be.I thank Him for his lessons, and his mercy. Most of all,His love. For no love lasts forever like his.And for that, all glory be to Him.

I drag my weapon and shield back in hand, and put up the armor again.Bring it on once more.

Just a little food for thought

How useful is a seatbelt?

As a substitute pillow.

And this is what emo music can do to people. These two nutters should be shot to death.

John's lasting legacy

Sociologists have identified a few contexts of dying in hospitals. In the context of open awareness, the patient and staff are fully aware that the patient i dying.Provide a 350-word narrative which illustrates this context.

When John first received the news of the cause of all the pain he has been experiencing in the past 6 months,he couldn't believe his ears. His world came to an end and he couldn't believe that he was actually going to die.Unable to accept the bitter truth,he let out his anguish in a scream which was heard by everyone in the range of 4 floors in the hospital.

John had been brave and bold enough to go to the doctor and got him to reveal the exact nature of his disease. With the support of his wife Yoko and brothers Paul,George and
Ringo,he thought that nothing would be a problem he couldn't solve.Until the doctor told him that he had been diagnosed with stage 4 testicular cancer. As it was,it wasn't a personal thing.John was, after all,a famous star and everyone knew him.The medical staff were devastated.Everyone in the hospital knew.

John's wife,Yoko, sought the help of a psychologist to help John cope with the face that he had not long to live.John had avoided his family's support and his brothers' company,to the point that he went to Paul's house and threw a brick at his window, and said afterwards: "He deserved it,the cunt." However, after his meeting with the psychologist, who was also an expert on social sciences,John's personality and attitude began to change. He began doing what he loved most;playing his guitar and making music. He held several reunions at his second home at Abbey Road with his brothers started enjoying his life again, without giving any thought to his illness.John was no longer the moody, depressed (often drunk) man he used to be and was now slipping back into the personality which won him many fans and admirers alike (although he steadfastly refused to dispose of the bitch Yoko and even posed nude together with her at one point).Even his relationship with Paul improved to an extent where both of them were seen sharing a drink and laughing together.

The psychologist who treated John described his recovery as "remarkable",having been dismissed as a lost cause when his band broke up previously. He said that,in an open awareness situation where both the patient and everyone else was aware of the patient's condition, the path to death is made easier to walk. This is because family and friends can do all they can to help the patient live a meaningful remainder of his life rather than letting him rot on his own.

Also, the patient would not withdraw into a shell and stay hollow but instead,he would choose to make life easier and better for the doctors, staff, family and most importantly, his fans the world over.To remain a caring family member and a good friend is the best and most acceptable way to die.

Alas, two weeks before he was predicted to die,John was shot dead by an mad ungrateful psychotic *insert expletive* assailant waiting outside his house. The world mourned the loss of one of the finest people to ever live on this earth. Thus,John's legacy will continue to live forever in our ears and our hearts.

The above was my answer to my sociology quiz question a couple of months ago.It is a tribute to John Lennon.Except the testicular cancer part, which I admit,I'm not sure it exists.

Sometimes you wonder if Alex Ferguson has a brain in his head

At this rate,United will become the new Liverpool even if they do win the Champions League.Even the Scousers managed to score at the Nou Camp, never mind win 2-1.As a United fan who is proud of the way that we do not serve up regular dour football such as Chelsea-Liverpool ties,it is an embarrassing kick in the nuts to say the least.

All of United's shortcomings were glaringly highlighted in the drab draw and it is definitely premature to say that "they have surpassed Barcelona as the most entertaining side in Europe",as one newspaper so loudly declared.A late injury to Nemanja Vidic forced Fergie to reshuffle his back four and as a consequence,Lionel Messi was allowed room to maneuver as Owen Hargreaves was deployed to right-back to cover for Wes Brown, who moved into the centre of defence.

For the World's Richest Club™,this is unimaginable.Surely a club with such resources could compensate right?Where was Gary Neville? And this was supposed to be the most talented side Sir Alex has had since he started at United.Well then I can't imagine how bad were the United of the 90s which ruled the Premiership and had players like Cantona and Bryan Robson.

The most talented side's midfield pairing of Scholes and Carrick hardly got a sniff of the ball in midfield where players unknown to the Premier League's worshippers such as Xavi and Iniesta ran the show. And when they did, they were in such a generous mood that they decided that since their own teammates don't want the ball, they gave it straight back to Barca.Another Barca player,Deco, who needed the club to invent a fake injury to cover for his absence in training was in fact one of the star players of the night. And to think that Messi was half-fit,Eto'o was sulking, and Ronaldinho was missing!

I lost count of the number of times United players had to drag down opponents to stop them weaving their pretty passes around the pitch.Scholes was outclassed countlessly and even got nutmegged a few times.(For your info, nutmeg=ball goes under your legs and it is extremely embarassing) What happened to Anderson? And when did Rooney and Ronaldo swap roles?Rooney was never a winger and Ronaldo could never be a striker, however many goals he scored. And here's another point to prove.

Much has been said about the duel between Ronaldo and Messi, about the same was said at the same stage last year when Kaka led Milan to a 3-0 win over United. In this case, the tables were actually in Ronaldo's favour,as Messi has just recovered from injury. This point was proven when an opportunity dropped onto Cristiano's lap when United were awarded a penalty in the 3rd minute. And Ron,with his charismatic shoulder-shrugging,air-blowing swagger, stepped up to blast it over. What a miss.

You can't rate a player based on just a missed kick, after all, this is a stadium where fans love to whistle more than anything else and gave Luis Figo a warm homecoming by throwing a pig's head at him. However, the gulf between Ronaldo and Messi was obvious. While Ronaldo laboured alone up front, often facing three or more men at the same time,Messi was bewitching.A graceful lob over Patrice Evra and a control down his thigh told everyone present all they needed to know when it comes to who's better on the big stage. And on the biggest stage of them all,Ronaldo is often invisible.

The advantage is slim, but it is Barca who holds it.The statistics are simple: United win and they're through. However,if they do concede one, they will have to come back with two,and this was how Arsenal knocked Milan out when Fabregas delivered that crucial blow so late into the game. And if United play this cautiously at Old Trafford,Chelsea can only dream of halting a Barcelona side who are a shade of their former selves.
